Gloria Carol Guessen has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and the love of her life, husband Vince. She passed peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, of natural causes.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1923, to Emil and Mary Lindblom in Elk River, Minnesota. She had a deep love for God, her family, friends, pets and all those she ever met. She loved to tell stories of her life growing up and sharing her love that she had for her brothers, Lester, Grant (Bud), Stanley and David.
Gloria was so proud of the work she did during the war years – caring for prisoners of war in a restaurant seven days a week, before marrying her own sailor and soul mate, Vince Guessen on Feb. 19, 1949. Gloria and Vince brought two children, Kenneth and Julia, into their family and gave them their hearts.
Gloria lived a full and wonderful life, filled with love from her family and many friends. She has left a lasting impression on so many lives. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vince; son Kenneth and her cherished brothers. She was survived by her daughter Julia (Duane) Sauter; grandchildren, Josh (Brynn) Illig, Joanne (Mike) Hynes, Ashley (Brandon) Richmond, Andrea Illig, Chasity Guessen, Corey (Chelsea) Guessen and Tiffany (Kenneth) Clark and her many great-grandchildren who were blessed by her love and treats.
Services for Gloria will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Valley Christ Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Patrick Hospital Cancer Foundation or charity of choice in Gloria's name. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
