Obituary for Gloria Busch

Gloria Anne Busch passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at her home in the Swan Valley after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family and beloved Scotties, Olivia and Benjamin.

Gloria was born Gloria Anne Davis on February 12, 1932 in Cairo, Illinois to Blanche Edith Davis and Milton A. Davis. She married James Henry Busch in January 1954 in North Carolina where Jim was stationed in the Navy. They soon welcomed a son, James Hugh Busch.

After leaving the Navy, the family returned to Canandaigua, New York, her husband's original home. Here they ran a grocery store and built and opened a specialty cheese shop. They added two daughters to the family, Beth Anne Busch and Kimberly Kay (Busch) Dinell.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and, on a hunting trip to Montana, learned of a cabin for sale on Lindbergh Lake. They purchased the cabin, sold their businesses and house in New York and moved to the Swan Valley in July 1967. Gloria spent the next 15 years making a home for her family on Lindbergh, where she had many cherished friends among the "summer home folks." She also loved the Valley residents and took pride in becoming a member of that group.

Gloria spent a brief time away from the Valley after her children left for college but would tell you that it was always calling her home. In 1989, her dream came true when she returned to the Swan and purchased the first Rustics' model home. It was here that she would live out her life, happy to be home.

Gloria enjoyed giving back to the community and served on the Swan Valley School Board and was a volunteer grandmother at the grade school. She was Director of the Swan Valley Players, a group that produced annual plays with the proceeds going to support the school and the QRU, Swan Valley Emergency Services.

Gloria is survived by a son, James, a daughter-in-law Amy, and daughters Beth and Kim, one grandson, Paul Cory, and his wife, Audra, brother, Hugh, nieces and nephews Walt, Becky, Sue and Janet, her adopted daughter, Kitty Logan, and many great nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Condon Community Church on Saturday, November 1 at 2pm, followed by a reception at The Hungry Bear. All who knew and loved Gloria are welcome. The family requests prayers for a life well-lived. For those who wish to honor her with a monetary gift, we ask that you support theQRU at Swan Valley Emergency Services, P.O. Box 1196, Condon, MT 59826. Gloria would be thrilled to know that she helped support this wonderful group that supported her so often.
