Obituary for Glenn E. Rangitsch

Died of natural causes, June 20, 2015. He was 88 years old. He lived a long and good life.

BORN 4/22/1927 to Jake and Mary Rangitsch, one of 7 children. The family moved from dryland farming in Fromberg, MT to Missoula when Glenn was a young boy. He grew up in Missoula, attended Catholic grade school and Hellgate High, where he met the love of his life, Lorraine Ursula Otter. They married after graduation. Glenn went into partnership with his elder brother, Robert. They managed a Phillips 66 Service Station on the corner of Front and Orange Street. A few years later, the brothers purchased property out on Broadway and established Rangitsch Bros. Initially dealing with the sales and service of recreational vehicles, the business soon expanded to mobile and modular homes. For the next two decades, Rangitsch Bros maintained a number one dealership with blue ribbon respect and service. Glenn retired at the age of 49, so he could indulge his other pleasures. His presence in the business community was missed for years to come. After retirement, Glenn and Lorraine moved to Arizona where they enjoyed the sun and warmth year round. Glenn was an avid golfer, a rock hound and the number one fan of his wife's success in the Arabian horse world. When Lorraine was in her late 70s, Glenn had the extraordinary pride and pleasure of watching her win several national championships. Glenn and Lorraine returned to Missoula several years ago and resided with their daughter, Susan. A 67-year marriage sadly ended with Lorraine's passing in September 2014. While life-long friends and family will miss Glenn, he is with his love again.

This year Glenn was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Schwenk, and Francis Campbell. He is survived by one brother, Bill Rangitsch, Mesa Arizona, a daughter, Susan Rangitsch and son-in-law, Christopher Cronyn, both of Missoula, and two granddaughters; Katherine Cronyn, Los Angeles, and Adrienne Caldwell, who lives in Florida.

A Celebration of Glenn's Life will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Wednesday, July 1st, at 10:30 a.m.; 420 W. Pine in Missoula. Reception follows.
