Obituary for Glen Thomas "Ozzie" Boettcher

Glen T. Boettcher “Ozzie”, 58, of Great Falls, passed away Saturday, July 2nd in Missoula due to complications from Alzheimer’s.
Glen was born May 20, 1958, in Clifton, New Jersey, to Dick and Dorothy Boettcher. As an infant, Glen moved to Great Falls, Montana. Glen was raised in Great Falls along with his three brothers and a sister, attending Elementary school at Chief Joseph and McKinley, Middle School at Paris Gibson, and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1976.
Both during and after high school, Glen worked a wide variety of jobs before settling in as professional painter in the family painting business, Boettcher Painting and Decorating. Although Glen did enjoy painting, his true passions in life were being outside and the Green Bay Packers. Whether it was fishing trips on the Missouri River, or hunting and four wheeling “at the wall tent” near King’s Hill, Glen preferred to be outside recreating. On almost all of Glen’s outdoor adventures, he shared the experiences with lifelong friends or his brothers. On Sundays Glen would be cheering for his beloved Packers even when the team was “not so great”.
In 1992 Glen was blessed with the arrival of his daughter Kelee. Glen spent as much time as possible with Kelee, enjoying every moment with her, and sharing his love of the outdoors with her.
Glen always had a special place in his heart for animals, and was a self-professed “Dog Guy”. We know Glen has been greeted by the likes of Calhoun, Bear, Wagner, and many others that will be very happy to see him.
Glen moved to Missoula in 2012 to be closer to his sister Mary and for continued care for his illness.
Glen was preceded in death by his niece Christy and his father Dick Boettcher. There is no doubt in our minds, that Glen and Dick are “wetting a line” together awaiting the arrival of the rest of us.
Glen is survived by his mother Dorothy, daughter Kelee, brothers Rick (Edie), Brian (Carol) and Mark, and his sister Mary Burton (Bob). Glen is also survived by several nieces and nephews and MANY lifelong friends!
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 12th at 2pm at Schnider’s Funeral Home, with a reception to celebrate Glen’s life to follow at The VFW on 10th Ave S. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Glen. Burial will take place at a later date. Condolences for the family may be left at www.gardencityfh.com

Come celebrate Glen’s life and love of football by wearing your favorite team’s jersey.
