Gerald Lee Beagley (Jerry), 82, of Frenchtown, Montana, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023, at St. Patrick Hospital of complications due to Parkinson's disease, dementia and COVID.
He was born on August 4, 1941, in Tooele Utah, to Jesse and Althea Beagley. He was one of nine boys and three girls. He was the oldest of the last five siblings.
His family moved quite a few times and besides Tooele he also lived in Salt Lake City, Missoula, Montana (twice), Wellington, Utah, Orem, Utah and Flagstaff, Arizona. From an early age he was always finding ways to earn money for he and his younger brothers for spending money, Christmas gifts, etc.
He graduated from Orem High School where he loved playing baseball and was a very good pitch. He loved having a nice car and spent many hours fixing them up.
During his senior year in high school, he met and 'soon' married Pat Ohmie. They eloped when he was 18 and she was 16. They moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where they lived for the next five years. In 1961 they remarried (for time and all eternity) in the St. George, Utah temple. They had four children together: Shellie, Tracy, Troy and James. Anita Brenchley, Tamara Rogers and Michelle Goon also lived with them for a short period of time. They would raise their children mostly in Utah. The last 37 years of their life together would be spent in Missoula and Frenchtown, Montana area.
In 1969 they would make the decision to go back to school. They moved to Cedar City, Utah, where he attended Southern Utah State College. He graduated in 1972. They then moved back to Orem, Utah area where he would begin what would be several different businesses. Timpanogos nursing home in Orem Utah, Little Caesars Pizza in Missoula, Montanan and Golden Corral in Missoula, Montana.
In approximately 2005 he retired. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-day Saints where he served in several different callings including eight years as Bishop of the Frenchtown ward. He had always had a desire to visit the Church History sites and was finally able to do that. In 2011 he and Pat served an eighteen-month mission in the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission.
He loved his family, the church, working, traveling and whenever he could...fishing, especially at Lake Mary Ronan in Montana.
He is survived by the love of his life Pat. Their children Shellie (Doug) Lundell of Frenchtown, Montana. Tracy (Shauna) Beagley of Lindon, Utah. Troy Beagley of Bluffdale, Utah and James (Kathryn) Beagley of Kalispell, Montana.
He has 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, six brothers and three sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Frenchtown Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, December 16th from 4 to 6. He will be buried in Utah sometimes in the summer around his birthday of August 4th.
