George Godfred Walth, 93, formerly of Billings, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at his home in Missoula.
He was one of 11 children. George was born Nov. 3. 1922, in Richardson, North Dakota, to Godfred and Christina Schaeble Walth. He was raised in the Billings area and graduated from Billings Senior High in 1942.
George served in the Army during World War II from 1943-1946. While stationed in New Guinea Southern Philippines he received the Philippine Liberation Medal, the Bronze Service Star, Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
On July 2, 1960, George married Esther Schrum. The couple lived in Billings. George moved to Missoula in 2003 after his wife passed away.
George liked to hunt, fish, garden and attend church services.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, nine siblings, one grandson and his stepson. Survivors include his brother Richard; son Keith; stepchildren Gary and Sharon; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula, Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m.
