Geoffrey M. Hathaway

Geoffrey M. Hathaway, 39, died suddenly at home in Missoula, Montana, on March 13, 2015, of complications of a seizure disorder. Geoff was a second-year student at the University of Montana School of Law. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 8, 1975, and was raised in Swarthmore, PA, Baltimore, MD, and Los Angeles, CA. He attended Temple University School of Communication, Arts and Theater, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 2001. He worked for many years as a video editor in television, in Los Angeles, most notably on the series American Idol.

Geoff is survived by his parents and step-parents, Michael Hathaway and Margaret Hunt of Swarthmore, PA, Margaret Manning and Timothy Blanchard, of Orcas Island, WA, and Cathryn O'Merle Hathaway, Sarasota, FL; his sister, Jennifer Hathaway (Theo Brasch) of Minneapolis, MN, and his brothers, Gregory Hathaway (Aimée de la Houssaye), and Jeffrey O'Malley (Karen) both of Brooklyn, NY; his aunts and uncles, Richard Hathaway (Carol) of Olathe, KS; George Hathaway (Nancy) of Bensalem, PA; Gerald Hathaway (Kate) of New York City; Evelyn Hathaway Zilch (Mark) of Conshohocken, PA; Thomas Manning (Eileen) and Maureen Manning of Springfield, PA; and nieces, Lillian Brasch and Clara and Alice O'Malley.

Geoff is also survived by a large number of Hathaway, Manning and Lewis cousins.

Geoff was predeceased by his grandparents, John W. Manning and Theresa M. Manning of Yeadon, PA, and Robert Hathaway and Jacqueline Hathaway Gouin of Philadelphia and Lafayette Hills, PA, and his uncle, John W. Manning, Jr.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Watson Children's Shelter,
4978 Buckhouse Lane, Missoula, MT 59804, a cause he personally supported.


A celebration of Geoff's life was held in Missoula on March 16, 2015, and others will be held in Los Angeles, CA, in late April, and in Swarthmore, PA, at a time yet to be determined.
