The angels came for Gene Paul Crabb, 84, on March 5, 2014. He passed away peacefully at the End of Life in Mineral Community Hospital in Superior, MT. He was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Morton, ID to Clarence Delano and Ruth Mae Wilson; the eighth of ten children. He married Joyce Adeline Johansen of Vay, ID on Oct. 22, 1950. To this union, five children were born; Steve Allen (Cheryl Thompson) of Superior, Kelly Gene (Danielle Sutay) of Victor, MT, Brian Arthur of Superior, Tamara Kay Jackson, Church (Shannon Wippert) of Alberton, MT, and James Paul (Karen Lyngholm) of Estes Park, CO.
Just out of high school, Gene worked for Consolidated Freight Lines in Spokane, WA, where he learned his trade. He was a log truck driver for Hulquist Bros. of Jewel Lake, ID; Frank Stratton Logging of St. Maries, ID. He worked in Alaska three years on the Alaska oil pipeline. Diamond Match as teamster and truck boss.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Lewis Delano and Arthur Clarence (Elinor Jones); three sisters, Viola Beth, Ethel Fae Gill (Alton) and Mary Ann Branson (Charles); two sons, Brian Arthur (1956-1980), Kelly Gene (1953-2006); son-in-law Richard Robert Jackson (1948-1982), and a grandson, Caleb Michael Church (1990-2006).
Still waiting in the wings are sister Clara Belle Galloway (Ervin) of Spirit Lake, ID; Herman Charles (Roberta Knerr) of Sagle, ID, Robert John (Joyce Watkins) of Superior, MT, Ralph Edward (Leona Bloom) of Sagle, ID.; his wife Joyce of 63 years, son Steve (Cheryl Thompson), daughter Tamara (Shannon Wippert), son James (Karen Lyngholm).
Gene was a great dad, loved his family and enjoyed the local fairs and dancing to the Kelly Hughes Band and his always friend Dick Warnken. He is further survived by Eight grandchildren; Charlie, Matthew, Kaylee, Mackenzie (Steve), Amanda, Shawness, Caleb (Tamara), Ashley (James); Eight great grandchildren, Lanie, Josie, and Cael (Charlies), Avery, Mason, Dylan and one in the chute (Amanda), Miley, Tate (Matthew) and numerous nieces and nephews.
No funeral is planned but a possible memorial in May 2014. In lieu of flowers a memorial in Gene's name may be made to the Chrohn's & Colitis Foundation Attn: Honor and Memorial Gifts, P.O.
