It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gavin Duane Castor; father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Gavin passed away peacefully at his home in Lolo MT on 8 November 2022 surrounded by family and friends.
Gavin was born February 10, 1933 in Grand Junction Colorado. He attended schools in Utah and Oregon. He joined the Air Force as a Weapon Maintenance Specialist and was assigned to Eglin Air Force Base Florida. He then started his Civil Service career at Hill Air Force Base in Utah working several electronic positions. Next Gavin went to Great Falls, MT supporting the Minuteman Missile group. Gavin retired from his government career in 1988.
Gavin spent 20 amazing years with his loving wife Montana (Tanna) Tolliver Castor who passed away in 2018. He lived well, laughed often, and shared jokes and war stories with family and friends. Gavin was a jack-of-all-trades, and was a constant source of support and guidance. He led a life marked by all of the measures of success, honesty, integrity and love. Gavin was a smart, talented, and an amazing man. He was always ready to lend an ear, a hand, or a kind word. Gavin enjoyed photography, taking pictures of the beautiful Montana scenery and wildlife.
Gavin was preceded in death by his parents Delbert M. and Edith Hunt Castor, his sisters Phyllis D. Castor Pullen (Raymond), Margaret Anne Castor Fry (Thomas), and Sandra Goff Anderson (Afton). He is survived by one brother Stephen Goff (Peggy). He leaves behind a son, Douglas Castor (Rachelle), and daughter, Cindy Castor Sweet, both living in Utah.
We would like to thank all the staff at Big Sky Palliative Hospice Care Center, and the staff from Azaleas Home Care & Services who graciously helped at his time of need. Special thanks to Dave Trusty who is a great friend and neighbor.
