Obituary for Frederick William Adler

Fred W. Adler, 89 of Missoula, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 of natural causes.
He was born in Loyal, WI., on March 15, 1927, to Fred and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Adler.
He graduated from Loyal High School in 1945. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in August, 1946. He graduated with honors from Wisconsin State University, River Falls, WI in 1950. Upon graduation he taught for two years in Thorpe, WI.
Fred married Lois Kamm on August 7, 1952 in River Falls, WI. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN where Fred was employed as a Cereal Chemist with the Pillsbury Company for 34 years.
Fred and Lois were blessed with 4 children. Upon retirement in 1986 they moved to New Ulm, MN for 5 years and then moved to Rapid City, SD in 1994. In 2013 they moved to Missoula to be closer to their grandchildren. Fred was a lifelong devoted practicing Catholic. He enjoyed his family and his work. We shall miss his wonderful sense of humor. Fred enjoyed his hobby of baking breads. He would bake for the family and his neighbors. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, reading and visiting family.
Fred is survived by his children; Diane Adler and her husband Wayne Carrier (DiWayne), Gillette, WY, Carol Ceynowa and her husband Tim, Luverne, MN, Mark Adler and his wife Diane, Longmont, CO, and David Adler and his wife Kerrie Ghenie, Missoula, MT, six grandchildren; Nic Ceynowa and his wife Nan, Alison (Ceynowa) Breuer, and her husband Dan, Andy Adler, Rob Adler, Kian Adler Ghenie, and Kendall Ghenie Adler, three great grandchildren; Jenaya Breuer, Brynna Breuer, and Henry Breuer, and sister in-law Mary Kamm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife of 61 years.
Fred greatly enjoyed his many friends and the staff at The Springs. His family would like to thank The Springs, St Patricks Hospital, and Partners In Home Care Hospice for all the love and support he has received over his final time with us.
Visitation will be from 5-6pm on Thursday, Feb. 9 with a Vigil Service to follow at 6pm at Garden City Funeral Home, Missoula, MT. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 am at Saint Francis Xavier Church with Father Rich Perry as celebrant. Internment with military honors, will be held at Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery immediately after the service. There will be a reception following interment at St. Francis Xavier Church.
