Freda Kahler

Freda Kahler, age 97, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2014 at the Bee Hive Homes in Missoula, MT. Freda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was born March 30, 1917, in Tuttle, North Dakota. Freda was the eighth child from a family of fourteen children (seven sisters and seven brothers) to Wilhelm and Christina Eippert Wagner.

On April 20, 1941, Freda married Theodore Kahler in Tuttle, North Dakota at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The couple raised six children. Freda's joy was not only her children, but her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

After moving to Missoula in 1960, Freda baby sat in her home for twenty years. Her hobbies included crocheting and other crafts along with sporting events. Freda loved all sports and attended numerous events when her children and grandchildren were playing. Freda travelled throughout Montana to watch her grandsons play various athletic events. Come rain, shine, snow, or cold, Freda would be there to cheer for her grandchildren.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Ted of 47 years, and her eldest son Donald.

Survivors include her four sons and one daughter along with their spouses; Gerald and wife Jan of South Dakota, Marvin and Patta, Darnell and Clara, Roger and Linnea (all of Missoula), and her daughter Marlene and Butch Herbel of South Dakota. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Also surviving is one sister and 2 brothers along with numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, June 27, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Mullan Road in Missoula followed by a graveside service at 11:00 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Condolences for Freda's family may be left at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
