Frank E. Siegford, 92, of Missoula, passed away Oct. 24, 2013, in Missoula of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Osage, Minn., to Roy and Jessie Siegford, the second child of 11. As a child, he attended school and worked on the family farm in the Osage area.
Frank was a World War II veteran and served in the Army from November 1942 until December 1945. He was a member of the 102nd Infantry Division. Frank fought across France and Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his efforts during the war.
On Jan. 4, 1946, he married Thelma Conner of Cass Lake, Minn. They moved to Missoula after the wedding.
Frank was a longtime employee of the White Pine Sash lumber mill, retiring from there in 1982.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Frank enjoyed woodworking and could make almost anything including furniture, bowls and toys. He also enjoyed gardening even into his final years. Frank and Thelma's yard was always beautifully manicured.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Frank will always be remembered for his generosity and kindness.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Missoula; two sisters, Edna and Norma of Minnesota; brother, Ben of Missoula; and four children, Gary of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Barbara of Aurora, Colo., Mike of Plains and Cindy of Las Vegas. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive him and will greatly miss him.
