MISSOULA - Frank J. Knoll 83, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at St. Patrick Hospital of pneumonia.
He was born January. 2, 1926, in Glendive to Joseph and Barbara Knoll.
Frank joined the Navy at 17 and served in World War II in the South Pacific Islands with three years on active duty. He also retired from the Montana National Guards with 22 years of service. He worked 30 years for Northern Pacific, Burlington Northern and Montana Rail Link.
He was preceded in death by his son Joe Knoll; and grandson Brett Knoll.
Survivors include his children, Micki (Joe) Mace and their children Amber, Megan and Holli of Missoula, Jett Knoll of Laurel, Sharon and Darlene of Portland, Ore.; granddaughter Lynette Kamps; and great-grandson Marcus Kamps of Missoula. He also has five other grandchildren and six other great-grandchildren.
Services being held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Sunset Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Paralyzed Veterans.
