GREENOUGH – The Rev. Frank A. Jackson, 81, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 5, 1932, in Upper Darby, Pa., to Arthur and Adelaide Jackson.
He was a graduate of Letourneau College in Texas with an electrical engineering degree. He was honorably discharged from the Marines shortly after the Korean War ended.
On April 19, 1954, he married Betty Fister.
He enjoyed the Drummond High School sports programs and football. Any time one of his 19 grandchildren were playing sports, he would
be there.
Frank and Betty moved to Montana after graduating from college in Texas. He got a job with Mountain Bell Telephone Co. and worked there for 15 years. He left the telephone company to work full time as a minister with the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission. With the help of Gale Fister, Sam Gupton and Darrell Burch they started Camp Utmost, which has been in operation for 35 years. Camp Utmost was started with the sole intent of reaching children with the Gospel of Christ. In his words from a letter left for his wife, "We have had a great marriage and a great family, and I wouldn't change anything. When we left the telephone company it was without any promise of financial support. We committed ourselves to the Lord and accepted Matthew 6:33 as God's promise to see us through to heaven. He certainly has been faithful, we have done well and have reached many for the Lord. God has supplied all of our needs. I love you all and look forward to seeing you on the other side."
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jackson; siblings, Art Jackson, Walter Jackson, Paul Jackson, Virginia Feenstra and Lois Spatola; children and their spouses, Melody Sandoval (Vincent), Bonnie Lake (Ken), Deborah Van Sickle (Gary), Linda Ingersoll (Ronald), Susan Ostler (Dave), Sandra Marler (Mark) and Robin Cochrell (Dale); 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren and five on the way.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Camp Utmost, 12701 Utmost Way, Greenough, with the Rev. Steve Fawcett officiating. A reception will follow.
The family requests that memorial gifts be given to Camp Utmost, c/o RMBM 1515 Fairway Ave. No. 200, Missoula, MT 59801.
