Frances "Frannie," 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters and two granddaughters Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Riverside Health Care of natural causes.
Frances was born July 14, 1924, in Fromberg to Mary and Jacob Rangitsch. She grew up on a farm in Fromberg until moving to Missoula as a young girl. Frances was proud of her mother's kitchen and her dad's garden. She attended St. Anthony Grade School and Sacred Heart Academy for high school.
She married Dale Shupe on April 15, 1941. They had one son, Donald. Dale died in a sudden accident in 1943.
She married Jim Petroff on Aug. 5, 1945. They had two daughters, Shirley and Margie. Frances worked at Palmer Pharmacy for many years. Jim passed in 1979.
She married Don Campbell in 1981.
She was an active member of St. Anthony Parish, Missoula Senior Citizens Center and Lolo Square Dancers Club. Frances was a very talented artist, painting beautiful watercolors. She was a quilter and a seamstress.
Frances and her family enjoyed many weekends fishing and camping. She loved to travel, visiting Australia twice and New Zealand. She wrote numerous journals of all her travels. Some of her favorite trips were camping and to Glacier Park.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she also took great care of her friends and church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Whether it was cheering them on at a sporting event or riding a snowmobile together, Frances always wanted to share her love of life with them.
Frances was a very vibrant woman, who was full of life. As she got older, she tried even harder to enjoy it. Everyone loved being around her, and her laugh was infectious.
Our Mom is at peace now. No more pain, no more limits on her movements or her free and happy spirit. That was Frances, our Mom.
