Obituary for Fonda M. Ditch

Fonda Maxine Slater Ditch passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at her home in Missoula. She was born in Muscatine, Iowa, on Oct. 21, 1931.

Fonda is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Clark Slater and Elsie Drewes Slater; her sister Norma June King and her son Stephen Craig Ditch. She is survived by her husband William Ditch.

Fonda was educated at Muscatine's high school and community and she and William Ditch were married Feb. 21, 1952, in Muscatine. During their 62 years of marriage, Fonda and Bill lived in many states and created long-lasting friendships everywhere they lived. Fonda reveled in initiating and organizing ideas in her church community. She was a devoted and supportive wife and mother.

Friends from communities, coast to coast, describe Fonda as steadfast in her faith. She loved God, trusted him and connected beautifully with us through Him. She was 83 years old. May she rest forever in God's grace and may we all strive to do as well as she in the way in which she represented that grace during her life with all of us.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Missoula at 10 a.m. on Jan. 3. A reception in her honor will follow the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society. Fonda believed strongly that all God's creatures deserved a good life.
