MISSOULA – Florence L. Karl of Missoula, 93, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, of natural causes at Village Health Care, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Bellevue, Pa., to Roy and Jessie Penfield. She worked many years in the Avonworth School District in Pennsylvania.
In 1944, she married Kenneth Karl and they had 49 great years before Kenneth's death in 1993 in Missoula.
In 1981, Ken and Florence moved to Missoula to be near their family. She always loved going to her son's and grandson's sporting events. Her favorite thing to do was play bingo wherever she was.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken; sister Ruth; brother Raymond and a sister-in-law Evelyn. She is survived by her two sons, Ken and Hal; daughters-in-law Nina and Judy; grandchildren KJ and Terra, Mike and Mindy, Jim and Jessalynn; great-grandchildren Jacob, Trenton, Dillion, MacKenzie, Clark, Natalie and Phoebe; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Stringert; and many nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates the very caring staff at the Village Heathcare Center, especially the staff of the Bitterroot hall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Garden City Funeral Home.
Florence will be laid to rest later in the summer at the Mount Nebo Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
