Obituary for Evelyn "Evie" Harper

-Evelyn "Evie" Harper, 86, passed away of natural causes on Mon. March 16, 2015 at her home. Evie was born in Missoula to Frances and Alice Wight on August 6, 1928 as her dad did not want her to be born at home on the ranch in Hall, MT. She and her sister Wanda grew up on the family ranch, riding horses, raising rabbits (which she couldn't eat as she had played with them all!), haying with a Beaver Tail Slide and moving cattle. She loved her childhood.
She graduated from grade school and high school in Hall, MT and attended the Kinmer Business School in Spokane, WA. Evie was a single working girl for Aerial Fire Control for the Forest Service. During that time she met and married James R. Osborne of which two daughters were born; Kim Marie and Lesa Kae. James and Evie were later divorced.
She fell in love with a tall GOOD LOOKIN brown eyed man, Glen D. Harper and they were married 49 years – several of them pretty fiery - like Evie's flaming red hair. Glen adopted and loved her two lovely daughter's and made them his own. She has 4 grandchildren; Chris "Kit" Helmer, Chad Belcourt, Kari Arnold and Dusty Helmer. She was preceded in death by grandson Blaze Helmer. She has 6 great grandchildren, Dylan, Faith, Damyn, Masyn, Catlyn, and Hannah.
She loved to dance – high heels and all – laughing the entire time. You should have watched her Jitter Bug! Evie loved colorful high heels, luscious bright colors and prints (hated black). She loved laughing until nearly wetting her pants along with chasing and loving her grand kids and generally Bossing us All!
She ate lunch every day – the exact same thing at the same time at Taco Treat – sometimes dinner, too, where she had many friends.
She loved to cuss and she was Good at it. We will miss her every day.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Garden City Funeral Home with a reception following. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
