Eva Rose Johnson, 91, of Arlee, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at St. Patrick Hospital. She was born March 20, 1932, in Petrel North Dakota, to Valentine and Frances Seitz. Eva moved with her family to the Missoula valley in Montana, where she graduated from the Sacred Heart Academy for Girls.
She was married to Robert Johnson for 46 years, raising a son, Dan Johnson. The family lived in the Missoula area until moving to Arlee in 1976. The three spent a great deal of time together going for Sunday drives, fishing, hunting, prospecting, but mostly enjoying each other. She loved animals and cared for both pets and livestock. Eva also enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening, and watching NASCAR, NBA basketball, the Grizzlies, and many other sporting events.
One of her first jobs was as a nurse’s aid at St. Patrick Hospital. She later managed a motel in East Missoula and after the move to Arlee, she worked in the school’s lunch program. She completed her work career helping residents in nursing homes. She was selected for the Alzheimer’s unit because she had a calming effect on the residents.
A loving wife and mother, that taught, cared for, supported, and encouraged her son. She willingly helped those in need and never asked for anything in return. While small in stature, her kindness, sense of humor, and never give up attitude, left a large impression on those who knew her.
