Eunice Grace Peterson, 94, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, of Missoula, passed away on Thursday July 17, 2014 at her home of natural causes.
Eunice was born on June 27, 1920 in Morristown, SD to Crawford and Hazel Wattenberger. She attended grade school in Morristown and graduated from High School in McIntosh then went on to business school.
On June 13, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona she married her childhood sweetheart, Clarence Peterson. The couple lived in Los Angeles California where Eunice worked as a bookkeeper for Lockheed, and Clarence helped build airplanes during the war.
In 1944, they moved back to McIntosh to help with the family business, where their first child, David was born. Eunice taught Sunday school in the Presbyterian Church. While living in South Dakota, they were later blessed with two more children; Bill and their youngest, Linda.
Eunice and Clarence worked together, played together and travelled together. They built many businesses together over the years of their lives in both South Dakota and Montana. The last business they built was Quality Supply, here in Missoula.
Eunice's greatest joy in life was spending time with Clarence, her husband and best friend, and her family. Unfortunately in September of 2001 a severe stroke left Eunice paralyzed on one side and unable to speak. However, she handled even this situation with patience and grace, communicating by answering yes and no questions.
In January of 2007 at the age of 86, Eunice was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her children David (Suzanne) Peterson, Bill Peterson and Linda Peterson, all of Missoula; her grandchildren Sean (Naomi) Peterson of Bozeman, Kyle Peterson of New York City; Kara (Bernie) Doddema of Rudyard, Michigan, Kavan (Sarah) Peterson of Seattle, Kaley (Justin) Burke of Missoula, Kristi (Brandon) Norton of Lolo; and Nicole (Andrew) Hyman of Missoula, as well as thirteen great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3201 Bancroft. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Condolences for her family may be left at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
