Eunice Hysen Nelson, 96, of Missoula, went to dance with Jesus on January 30, 2024, at St. Patrick Hospital.
She was born on May 29,1927, in Missoula, to John and Stella Hysen. She attended school in Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School in 1945. Upon graduation she joined the
Cadet Nurse Corp in Spokane, WA at Whitworth College and Deaconess Hospital. She graduated in 1948 as a registered nurse. She returned to Missoula to work at the Northern Pacific Hospital.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, being baptized there in 1927. She taught Sunday School, worked in numerous women's organizations, and even painted the church basement orange with her good friend, Betty Lou Nelson.
She worked as a board member for Lutheran Social Services of Montana, was active in the local Alzheimer's support group, was a Cub Scout and Bluebird leader, and was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved bowling and was even on a Wii bowling team at The Springs coached by Mike, a fellow high school graduate.
She enjoyed spending two weeks each summer at Swan Lake with dear friends, Grace and Harry Harkins and their children. Their son, Jim, continued to regularly visit her for a chocolate shake at The Springs.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl; husband, Ray Ormesher for 32 years, husband, Melvin Johnson for 11 years, and husband, Lewis Nelson for 17 years; son, Mark Ormesher.
Survivors include her children Linda (Ken), Allen (Kathleen), and Gail; 6 grandchildren and 10
precious great-grandchildren who called her GG, beloved stepdaughter and caregiver, Debbie and her family.
In lieu of flowers the family would suggest donations to Lutheran World Relief.
