On Thursday, April 21, 2016, Ernest Lynn Neal grew his angel wings and traveled to heaven. "Ernie" was born in Preston, Idaho, on Aug. 28, 1951, to Paul and Elizabeth (Baker) Neal.
Ernie grew up in Preston and joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and served until 1974. He then joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 and served until 1992. He married Michelle (Maxson) Eyrich in 1971. They had one son Mark Neal in 1979. They were latter divorced and Ernie married Nancy (Evered) on Sept. 10, 1984. They were blessed with Ashtyn in August 2010. Ernie's interest included hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, Star Trek, science fiction and a history buff. He was very much a family man and was active with many of his nieces and nephews to include being a 4H mentor. Other jobs include long haul trucking and maintenance at the Pocatello Regional Hospital.
Ernie is survived by his wife Nancy Ann Neal "Evered" of Lolo; son Mark Allen Neal of Hugoton, Kansas, and daughter Ashtyn Lena Nicole Aamold of Lolo and mother-in-law Donna Lee Evered of Lolo. He is also survived by numerous nephews, great-nephews, nieces and great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 5830 Palin Drive, Lolo on Thursday, May 5, at 3 p.m. with potluck to follow. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Montana Hope Project or Autism Awareness. Ashes will be spread on Aug. 28 in the meadows in Idaho.
