Obituary for Emma Jean Lane

– Emma Jean (Sides) Lane, age 87, was born December 18, 1926 in Walla Walla, WA to Sarah and Pearl Sides and left this world on May 27, 2014. Emma Jean spent her childhood near the Keystone drainage outside Superior, MT. As a young girl she worked side by side farming with her father. Raised during the Depression, Emma Jean was part of a family that fed the homeless and generosity was part of her character. She completed high school in Superior and graduated from St Patrick's Hospital School of Nursing in Missoula, MT in 1946. She met and married Jack Lane October 17, 1948. She worked in hospitals in Superior, Plains, Hot Springs as well as nursed around the country as she travelled with her husband. She worked full-time nursing while raising 8 children. A loving mother and very giving woman, she was the rock and soul of the family with a memory "as sharp as a tack". What she loved most dearly was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, handcrafting dolls, going to auctions with her husband, watching old western movies and spoiling her pets. An avid reader, Emma Jean loved her Kindle. Emma Jean and Jack had 8 children together. Their oldest daughter Lorri Lane preceded them in death. Surviving children are Kathleen Lane (Steve Weberling) of Kennewick, WA; Prudence (Gary) Markley of Sultan, WA; Leila (Dave) Dengel of Valdez, AK; Ronda (Jim) LeClair of Plains, MT; Bo (Cindy) Lane of Harpster, ID; Cindy (Jim) McNicol of Farmington, NM; and Clint (Tina) Lane of Anchorage, AK. They have 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
