Elwyn "Alex" Alexander died at his home In Missoula Sunday night following a short battle with cancer. Alex was born at his parent's home in Milton Freewater OR on 11 Nov. 1936. He enjoyed growing up in the Eastern Oregon area and wanted to pursue education. While he never became a school teacher he did happen to encounter the love of his life in Biology class. Elwyn and Minnie married on 9 June 1963 and spent the next 49 years growing closer together as friends and partners in life.
During these years they raised three sons and welcomed eight grandchildren into their hearts and he was most recently awaiting the birth of his first great-granddaughter. During their years in Portland, OR Elwyn spent his time managing the Christian Supply Center at Lloyd Center Mall. After being told of the opportunity to purchase their own book store Elwyn and Minnie packed up the family and moved to Missoula, MT: opening and running the Christian Book Center for almost 30 years. Ministering to the people of Western Montana through books, Bibles and gifts along with supporting missionaries around the world was a passion of Elwyn.
Elwyn lived his life to the fullest and was a pillar of encouragement and support to those who knew him. He will continue to be loved and remembered as a treasured father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm (Noon) on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Frenchtown Community Church. Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Condolences for the family may be left at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
