Elsie Jean Parker Warmoth was born in Missoula Montana to Roe and Ernest Parker and passed away peacefully at Community Medical Center on February 26, 2014 at 4:51 pm. She had the sun shining on her face and was at peace.
Elsie grew up in Rosalia, Washington and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1949. Elsie went to Eastern Washington University for one year and left to take a job at Inland Power and Light. Elsie was offered a job in Missoula Montana at Mountain Bell Tel and Tel. It was there that she met Gareld (Gay) Warmoth and they married in Missoula on January 22, 1955.They welcomed their first child, Larry Alan later that year. Gay and Elsie bought their house on 84 Arrowhead Drive that they have lived in for over 52 years. Arrowhead Drive was a magical place for Elsie. They were one of the first couples to build a house on their block but soon it was filled with houses and young couples and their children. Elsie met some amazing people on Arrowhead Drive that would become her lifelong friends. Elsie, Karol Powell, Niola Mitchell and Sharon Nelson would start a bridge club and the Bridge Girls were a tight knit group that helped and supported each other through the good times and the bad.
Elsie and Gay had their second child, a daughter, Kathy Ann in 1962. With their family complete they all settled in to life together on Arrowhead Drive. Gay worked out of town five days a week and Elsie held down the job of being both parents for many years. When Larry left for college, Elsie decided to go back to work at the new Southgate Mall. She was hired by the Brady family at Western Sportsman and worked there for sixteen years. She loved working with the public and said that all the employees there kept her feeling young.
Elsie was passionate about animals and mostly dogs. They always had Labrador retrievers and were very involved in the Western Montana Retriever Club. The dogs in the Warmoth family were really just like children. Children with the names of Bing, Happy, Bussie, Joey, Pepe and her beloved poodle Andy. She also loved babysitting her grand dogs whenever she had the chance.
Shortly after her retirement, Elsie suffered a heart attack and as part of her therapy she started to walk. Elsie and her cousin and best friend Debbie McConaughey would walk every single day out at Fort Missoula. Elsie would have so many stories on the many animals and people they would encounter on their walks. Elsie and Gay traveled some with relatives and trips to be with the kids and grandchildren but Elsie really just loved to be at home. She liked having an immaculate lawn and flower beds and enjoyed her yearly trip out to Benson's Gardens to pick out her flowers for the season. One of her favorite days would be when she would first see the tulips come out of the ground.
Christmas Eve was always at Gay and Elsie's house for the last twenty years. Elsie made lasagna and all the McConaughey clan would come over and bring the fixings.
Elsie was an extremely generous person. She would contribute to every organization that contacted her and her favorite organization to give to was Animeals.
Elsie's last trip was to Mesa, Arizona over Thanksgiving to see her children, grandchildren, sister-in law's and daughter in laws entire family. Elsie was so thrilled to be with everyone and had a fantastic time.
Elsie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gareld Gay Warmoth, son Dr. Larry Alan Warmoth, daughter-in- law Debbie Katchur Warmoth, grandchildren Taylor, Travis and Tanner Warmoth all from Lubbock, Texas, daughter Kathy Ann Warmoth, grand dog Lulu , cousins Thomas and Debbie McConaughey, Adam, Kendra, Oliver and Matthew McConaughey, sister Shirley Rae Jones amd many nieces and nephews.
Everyone that met Elsie loved her. One friend called her the matriarch of Arrowhead Drive. She was an amazing person, wife, mom, friend, aunt and sister. She will be dearly missed here but her presence will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched.
Elsie was never a fan of funeral services so we are respecting her wishes and there will be no services. Keep your memories of her in your heart and share a story about her when you have the chance. In lieu of flowers you can donate to Animeals or the Humane Society. Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Thank you Elsie Jean for being my mom and my best friend…….we will be okay. Love- Kathy
