Missoula - Elroy Arthur Brunner, Jr. was born in Glasgow MT on May 14, 1951 to Elroy Arthur Brunner, Sr. and Marjorie (DeTienne Brunner) where he grew up, including Bainville with his 6 siblings. They moved to Missoula in the 5th grade where he attended Roosevelt School and Hellgate High School, later meeting his future wife of 50 years, Connie Lerch. Roy attended the Missoula Vo-Tech earning an operating engineer degree. Roy was instrumental in the construction of Lookout Pass as well as digging out Quake Lake following its big earthquake. Roy started working for Montana Power Co in April 1973 and worked as a laborer, machine operator then city gas foreman, primarily in the natural gas department. Roy and Connie had 2 children, Todd (wife Tera) and Kasey (husband Shay), 2 grandsons, Garrett and Ryan, and 2 grand-dogs, Griffey and Rey. Over the years Roy enjoyed coaching baseball at Mt. Sentinel Little League, soccer and basketball. Roy enjoyed tying flies, fly fishing, floating the Bitterroot River, taking his pontoon boat to Flathead or Salmon Lake, paddling along on his Water Otter, hunting, and gardening. Roy loved spending time with his family including watching all of the kids and grand-kids activities as well as a recent family trip to Las Vegas. Thank you to all of the amazing, doctors, nurses and various staff at St. Patrick Hospital for taking care of Roy in his final days. There will be a celebration of life memorial service at Garden City Funeral Home on Friday, May 12th at 11am, reception to follow, at 1705 W. Broadway, Missoula.
