Eleanor Fialka died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula. She was 86 years of age.
Eleanor was born on July 16, 1927, to Ethel and Peter C. DeWit Sr. in Missoula. She attended the University of Montana from 1945 to 1948.
She married Ardean W. Fialka on April 15, 1950. They moved to Carson City, Nev., in 1952.
While living in Carson City she was a volunteer at Carson-Tahoe Hospital, a volunteer at Hospice of the Sierra Sage, as well as a member of the board of directors. She was a board member of the Carson City Crisis Pregnancy Center and a member of Compassionate Friends of Northern Nevada.
After the death of her husband, she moved back to Missoula in 1989. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church Alter Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ardean in 1979; grandson Eric Madsen in 1981; great-grandson Samuel Madsen in 2012, and her sister Marie Handley in 2013.
She is survived by her son Dean (Ann) Fialka; daughter Carol (Gene) Lisonbee; granddaughters, Stephanie (Brent) Johnson and Laurie Fialka; grandsons, Jim (Shelly) Madsen and John (Lindsay) Madsen; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Madsen, Parker Madsen and Lucy Madsen. She is also survived by her sister Johanna (Glen) Wohl and brothers, Wiley (Julie) Baldwin and Peter (Carol) DeWit Jr.
At Eleanor's request, there will be a private inurnment in Carson City.
Eleanor's family would like to thank the staff of the Village Health Care Center for their loving care of our mother in her final days.
