Obituary for Eileen Katharine Goffe

Eileen Katharine Goffe, 83, of Missoula, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Hillside Manor.

She was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Leal, North Dakota, to Leo and Viola Rebhahn. As a young girl, she lived with her family on a farm in Leal, North Dakota, and was educated at Uxbridge public schools. She graduated from Leal High School.

On Aug. 2, 1950, she married Merlin C. Goffe in Valley City, North Dakota, at St. Bonifis Catholic Church. The couple lived there until moving to Missoula in 1963, where they raised their four children.

She was a member of the Eagles in Valley City, active in the Martha Ministry at Christ the King Church, Missoula Senior Center and volunteered at St. Patrick Hospital for 10 years. She worked at Henessey's for 20 years.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she took great and loving care of her friends, church and colleagues. She enjoyed gardening, music, flowers, mountains, the ocean and being with family.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Cathy; husband, Merlin; parents, Leo and Viola Rebhahn; brothers, Alfred Rebhahn, Norbert Rebhahn and Donald Rebhahn; and sisters, Iola Johnson, Luella Lehman, Pat Veer, Marilyn Andresen and Irma Blashka.

Survivors include Kevin (Carol) Goffe, Allan (Uka) Goffe, Lori Goffe and Jane (Doug) McIntosh; grandchildren, Katie (Alex) Hopkins, Denver, Patrick (Jamie) Erbacher, Sandra and Cassandra Goffe, Matthew Goffe, Ann (Jon) Putman and Aaron McIntosh; and great-grandchildren, Jayden and Haley Erbacher and Katharine Hopkins.

Special thank you to Partners Hospice caregivers Joe, Terry, Greg, Melanie and rest of the staff, Brad Curtiss, Ann Schellinger and George Firth.

Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Christ the King Church with Father Jeff Flemming officiating. Luncheon immediately following service. Ashes will be laid to rest next to Merlin at Scared Heart Cemetery in Sanborn, North Dakota, at a later date.
