Obituary for Edwin "Mac-A-Dew" Brester

MISSOULA – Ed "Mac-A-Dew" Brester, 80, of Missoula, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, due to complications of cancer.

Ed was born at home on April 2, 1932, the youngest of 14 children to Conrad and Katherine Brester in Scottsbluff, Neb. Ed was raised in the Grass Valley area of Frenchtown, where he was a big help on the family farm.

On July 3, 1956, Ed married the love of his life Robert "Bobbie" Baeth in Kalispell. Ed and Bobbie resided in Missoula, where they and their six children (in seven years) made their home.

Ed found his calling in asphalt work early. He was proud of his employment as supervisor with Larry and Penny Rathbun of Larry's Patch and Pave. Ed was a hard worker and dedicated worker. He and Bobbie stayed good friends with the Rathbuns even after retirement.

One of Ed's greatest joys in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren (he never said no to any one of them).

Ed's second love was being outdoors with family and friends, whether fishing, hunting, camping, boating or wintering as a snowbird in Arizona.

Ed loved his family and his family loved him. He will be greatly missed.

His wife Bobbie; his parents; all of his siblings except Frieda Kallis; a grandchild, Kristine; daughter-in-law, Shariline Woods; and son-in-law, Ed Jemison, preceded Ed in death.

He is survived by his children, Alona "Lonnie" and Charlie DeVoe, Eddy and Kim Brester, Robert Brester, Kathy Stevenson, Cheryl Jemison-Nelson and Wayne Nelson, and Cindy and Tod Jacobs; grandchildren, Jon and Christina, Richelle, Kyle, Breanna, Chandris, Lynze and Clint, Jennifer and Jude, Heidi and Justin, Eric and Megan, Christina and Chris, Dustin and Mark, Michael, Jalynn and Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Charli, Gabriel, Kora, Amelia, Genevieve, Noah, Jacob, Ethan, Mason, Abraham, Liam, Golden and two more on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Sunset Memorial, 7405 Mullan Road.
