Edward Alexander Duncan, 86, of Missoula, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Lighthouse Assisted Living, of natural causes.
He was born on February 17, 1928, in Jacksonville, Florida to Edward and Anna Duncan and grew up as a Protestant Christian. He attended Robert E. Lee High School where he played violin in the orchestra. He went on to complete his Bachelor's degree at North Texas State College in Music Education in 1950. He was drafted and served in Germany in the Infantry. After the war he attended Florida State University and received his Master's degree in Music History.
He is retired as tenure from Georgia Southern University and also served on the faculty at Rutgers University.
In 1972 he married Linda A. Majeste and raised their daughter Jennifer. These people were very dear to his heart.
He moved to Missoula as a Hurricane Katrina Survivor in 2005. Here he made many friends who loved and cared for him.
He was loved by many and most appreciated for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Truly a brilliant mind and known by many as "A Library of Knowledge". He had a great love for classical music, the symphony, art, literature, and classic old movies.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law Rich Maricelli and six
grandchildren; Joe, Abbie, Taylor, Andrew, Jackson, and Dominic from Missoula.
At Edward's request, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
