Edgar Price, Jr.

Edgar Lee Price went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 10, 2018. Ed was born in Butte, MT on October 14, 1929, the only child of Edgar and Margaret Price. He grew up in Butte and was extremely proud of his Butte heritage and roots. Ed loved everything Butte, especially beef pasties, porkchop sandwiches and beer. He would always say there were two kinds of people, those born in Butte and those that wish they were. Ed attended the University of Montana in the ROTC Army program, transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard and served his country. He met Eleanor Smith in 1953 in Billings MT and married in 1955. They had three sons, Tom (Sue), Ed (Marie) and Ken (Pam). Ed worked for Standard oil and owned Price Chevrolet in Deer Lodge MT. Ed’s love of flying led him to become a manufacturer’s representative for Cessna, Bellanca and Aero Commander, whereby he moved his family to Ohio and Salt Lake City UT. He returned to the state he loved, Montana, where he owned and operated the Frontier Center Convenience Store in Missoula before retiring. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Eleanor, his sons and daughters in law and five grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Patrick’s hospital as well as the neighbors near their home. Family and friends are toasting Ed on Friday, November 23 at the Price home - Missoula from 3-7 pm. Burial services will be held on a future date at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Butte.
