Dr. John “Jay” Matz passed peacefully on April 14 surrounded by family and close friends. Jay devoted his life to serving others and treated tens of thousands of patients over his 44 years as a Chiropractor. He attended California State College and went on to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1980. He practiced with his father and oldest sister in Pennsylvania, and managed Matz Chiropractic in Monroeville, Pennsylvania for 20 years. Montana is the place he always wanted to call home, and he was fortunate to be a Missoula resident for 18 years. It was while living here in 2007 that he married the love of his life, Barbara Lynn Matz. They lived a joy filled life with dogs, horses, and his favorite donkey, Clyde. He continued his Chiropractic practice with his youngest sister, youngest brother, and nephew and was treating Missoula patients as recently as March.
Dr. Jay is survived by his wife; his mother, Maxine; his four siblings; his daughters Amanda, Amber, and Alli; his granddaughter, Isla; and, many friends. He spent his last weeks surrounded by the love and care of his wife Barb, his youngest daughter Alli, family members, and his closest friends.
Celebration of life will be held at Crosspoint Church (7500 Mullan Road) on Saturday April 20 from 1-3 p.m.
