Doug Shepherd

Doug Shepherd, 94, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, in Missoula.

Doug was born and raised in Idaho; he was the son of Alfred and Emma Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucile; and his wife 34 years, Ann.

He is survived by his sons, Bill and Geoff; and companion and friend, Helen Laine.

Doug received his bachelor's degree at the University of Utah and his doctorate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he met his wife, Ann Feder. He spent his entire professional career at the Upjon Co. in Kalamzoo. In retirement, he was active in several charitable organizations.

After his wife passed away, the highlight and joy of his later years was reconnecting with Helen, with whom he shared many happy years traveling and entertaining friends in Missoula. He will be remembered for his wit, an incredible mind and a flair for simple but delicious cooking.

Funeral arrangements will be private.
