Dorothy Wittenberg passed away November 1, 2013 at the Village Health Care Center. She was born August 7, 1929 to William and Florence Flanagan In McLeod, Montana. She grew up in various towns in rural Montana.
She first married Nap Tabish in Missoula and they had four children; Bonnie, Patsy, Larry and Mike. She later married John Wittenberg and they spent many happy years together. She worked as a cook in several restaurants in Missoula including the Minute Kitchen, 4 B's Restaurant and Bugs BBQ. She then worked as a cook for the Missoula County High Schools until her retirement. She loved square dancing, gardening, sewing, shopping and enjoying the urban deer and squirrels frequenting her back yard. She also enjoyed her swimming aerobics class and friends at the YMCA.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, both parents, brother Charles, sisters May, Helen, Carol and Maxine. She is survived by her children Bonnie Tabish, Patsy (Fred) Bischoff, Larry Tabish and Mike Tabish, sisters Hazel, Billie, Mildred and brothers Patrick and Danny, her best friend Al Sontag, and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As Dorothy wished only a graveside service will be held on Thursday November 7, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens for family and friends. A reception will follow in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home's community room.
She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.
Cremation was under the care of Sunset. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
