Dorothy Jean (Stickney) Stevens, 82, passed away September 27, 2015 surrounded by family members.
Dorothy was born December 22, 1932 in Missoula, the seventh of eight children. In early life she attended the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She attended Missoula County High School and graduated in 1952.
She married Richard Albert Stevens on August 13, 1954.
Dorothy worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle during the mid-1950s, and returned to Missoula to work for Louisiana Pacific, retiring in 1997.
Dorothy had a kind heart and loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. Known by everyone in the immediate family as "Grandma Dorothy", she always loved having her family around her and spending time with them.
Dorothy was an exceptional gardener (like the rest of her family) and had the most gorgeous flower gardens in which she took great pride. She had an extraordinary "green thumb".
She enjoyed music and played the piano, her favorite song was "Greensleeves". One of Dorothy's favorite pastimes was camping and fishing in Western Montana. She loved traveling in her motorhome, with a boat in tow, and her family onboard.
She had the "gift of gab" and there was rarely a moment of silence when she was around. Her positive fun loving personality was appreciated by her care givers at Rosetta Assisted Living and she grew to love them like family.
She is survived by one brother Richard Stickney (June) of Richland WA, four children, Chuck Stevens of Jamul CA, Roxanne Stevens of Missoula, Ruby Anschuetz (Gerald) of Draper UT, and Randy Stevens (Tracy) of Lolo, MT, five grandchildren Amanda Buckley of Washington State, Brittany Brockman of Kagoshima, Japan, Erik Wengren (Christa) of Missoula, Sara Anschuetz of Draper, UT, and Arielle Stevens of Lolo, MT, and one great grandchild Andrew of Washington State. She also had adopted grandchildren Matthew, Makayla, and Mitchell as well as great grandchildren, Phoenix and Kaedence.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Fred and Eunice Faye (Bridegroom) Stickney, and six brothers and sisters, Earl Stickney of San Diego CA, Warren Stickney (Doris), Arwood "Butch" Stickney (Betty), Omer Stickney, Violet Skrivseth (George "Skrivey"), and Hazel Richlie (Wayne) all of Missoula, and one grandchild Jesse Wayne Stevens.
