Dorothy Rae Mattix, or Dot, Mom, Grandma or GG as she was affectionately known, joined her husband Chuck and parents Buck and Edith in heaven on August 25.
Dorothy was born in Miles City and traveled with her parents for Buck’s highway jobs, until they settled in Butte where Dorothy graduated Butte High in 1959.
Dorothy met and married the love of her life, Chuck Mattix, in Butte and they later made their home in Missoula until her passing. Dorothy worked in the insurance industry for many years at GAB.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling, golf, and traveling with family and friends. Her lunch dates and shopping adventures with good friends were always fun and if she got a chance to “burn $5” she was delighted. She always lit up when she would see the grandchildren and great grandchildren. They never failed to get a smile and giggle out of her. Birthdays, Holidays with her extended Egan/Jette family, and graduations were always a highlight and she loved the opportunity to catch up with everyone and be part of the chaos.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Richard B. (Buck) and Edith Dundas and her husband Chuck Mattix.
She is survived by her brother Greg Dundas (Jan) Gillette, Children Vicky, Shawn, and Mark , grandchildren, Shea, Siera, Jason, and Marissa. Great grandchildren, Beau Lehman and Wyatt Lehman and nephews Curt and Todd Dundas.
The family would like to thank Dr. Siobhan Lynch, Dr. Proper, Laura Reed, PA, and all the wonderful staff at the Village Health for their kind and compassionate care.
Per Dorothy’s request, no service will be held and a cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place in Butte.
