Dorothy Ichtertz, 92, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at her home in Missoula on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, of natural causes.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1926, in Chester, Illinois, to Roy and Esther Braun. She attended nursing school at Missouri Baptist Hospital.
She married George Ichtertz Jr. on May 24, 1944, and traveled with him throughout the USA until settling in California, then returning to Chester after his death and then moving to Montana after her parents passed away, to live near her daughter.
Dorothy was an accomplished pianist with a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed attending classical concerts and plays. She was most proud of being a homemaker and raising her children.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George and her mother, father and brother, Vernon Braun. Survivors include two sons and a daughter and their families: Greg Ichtertz, his wife Daisy and granddaughters Nicole (also living in Missoula), Natalie and Melanie; Dolf Ichtertz, his wife Carol of Grand Island, Nebraska and grandsons Nathan and Eric, and daughter Nanette (Ichtertz) Ault and her husband Alan of Missoula, as well as numerous other relatives, friends and caretakers.
We cannot thank enough all who helped and befriended our mother, with special thanks to all of you at Home Instead, Missoula Aging Services and Hospice of Missoula.
Services will be at Valhalla Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, Jan. 20, with viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a service and burial.
