-Dorothy Hebert, 77, passed away at home on Sun. Dec. 14th.
Dorothy was born to Alice and Dewey Carlson on April 14, 1937 in Missoula, MT. She graduated from Hellgate High School. Dorothy married Ray Hebert on October 12, 1963 after they designed and built their house together. They just celebrated their 51st anniversary.
After graduation Dorothy started working for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. She worked for the phone company her entire career. She retired after 31 years. She has belonged to their Pioneer Club for many years.
She and Ray were great hunters. Dorothy belonged to the Missoula Rifle Club and won numerous trophies for her shooting abilities. She enjoyed skiing and other outdoor activities including many hours spent in their large garden. She loved animals and always had a dog or cat by her side. She and Ray squared danced for several years. Her favorite pastime was reading, she loved and read all types of books. After retirement she joined Missoula Area Wood Carvers and made many beautiful pieces.
For many years Dorothy entertained a large family and many friends during the holidays. She enjoyed cooking and tried new dishes using fresh produce from her garden.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ray Hebert of Pinegrove; sister and brother-in-law Peg and Hank Schmuff of Florida; sister-in-law Eva Chilcoat; brother-in-law Frank (Arliss) Hebert all of Pinegrove; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception following in the community room.
