Dorothy Lavoie Crosby, 83, of Seeley Lake, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, at St. Patrick Hospital.
She was born Dec. 31, 1933 in Missoula, the daughter of Mildred and George Lavoie.
Dorothy was first and foremost an avid fisherwoman, and although she enjoying fishing on Seeley Lake, her true passion was the 21 summers she spent fishing with her youngest son Rick in Alaska. She was adventurous in her love of boating, even when it meant overnighting on the floor of a boat out on the ocean at the age of 70. She also loved flower gardening and all things purple.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lynn, daughter Sherri and 2 grandchildren, Chad and Shawn. She is survived by 6 children, Rick Butler, Earl Butler, Chester Butler, Rocky Houtchens, Jean Garrard and Jeri Walker; a brother Randy (Esther) Lavoie; 8 grandchildren, Wesley, Trina, Josh, Dee, Sona, Jason, Michelle and Naomi; many great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews that called her Toots: Michelle, Nathan, Matthew, Tim, Terry, Cheryl, Laurel, Toni, Teddie and Josie. There were also her much loved, faithful pet companions who helped her through life, Pooh, Lave’, Griz and Bunny.
A Memorial Reception will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, from 1-4pm at Rick and Dorothy’s Home at 489 Airport Rd. in Seeley Lake. Condolences for the family may be left at www.gardencityfh.com
