Doris Helma Iverson, 91, of Potomac passed away March 28, 2017 at Riverside Health Care Center.
She was born on November 30, 1925 along with her twin brother Davis, to Edwin and Helma Ness in rural Dodge County, Minnesota. On June 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Leonard Iverson at S. Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson, Minnesota.
Doris and Leonard farmed side by side and made West St. Olaf their home church. Doris was active in many events, groups and activities there.
In 1975 Doris and Leonard, along with their two sons, moved west to Potomac, Montana. There she continued to help out on the ranch, cooked at the Potomac School and was also an election judge. She was active in their home church, Our Saviors Lutheran, in Bonner where she enjoyed quilting and along with many other ladies made many quilts for various missions. If you “just dropped in” at the Iverson Ranch, Doris could always be heard saying “coffee is ready”, and you would be treated to a hot cup along with an oven fresh cookie. If you could stay longer, a good home cooked meal was always made ready. When not cooking, she could be found at her sewing machine creating a new quilt or patching an old pair of blue jeans.
Doris is survived by her two sons Leslie (Susan) and Dennis (Charlotte) both of Potomac and daughter Rose Mary (Lynn) Boynton of Mantorville, MN. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who called her Grandma-Great; two brothers Ernest (Margaret) Ness, Franklin (Sandy) Ness; sister Betty Wohlfiel ; sisters in law Virginia Iverson, Lorraine Ness and Colleen Ness, all of Kasson, MN; and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Stanley, Manford and Davis Ness. Viewing will be on Sunday, April 2, from 4-6pm at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula. Private burial will be on Monday, April 3 at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, also in Missoula.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 6, 2017 at 3pm at Our Saviors Lutheran in Bonner, MT. Food and fellowship will follow the service at the church.
Memorials can be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church; the Greenough-Potomac Fire Dept. or a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences for the family can be sent to www.gardencityfh.com
