Doris E. Blunck

Doris E. Blunck, 78, of Missoula, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula from a stroke.
Doris was born March 15, 1935, in Waseca, MN, to Clarence and Ella Gottschalk.
She graduated from Janesville High School in Janesville, MN in 1953. She attended Valparaiso University from 1953 to 1955 and Concordia College from 1955 to 1956. Doris married Paul Blunck on June 8, 1957 in Janesville, MN. They moved to Harlowton, MT in 1957 where Paul served as pastor of the local Lutheran church. In 1964 they moved to Missoula, MT where Paul was pastor of First Lutheran Church. Doris was active in the church helping with Sunday school, women's groups and acting as her husband's personal secretary while raising their six children. In 1991 Doris returned to school to complete her Bachelors in Education. In 1995 Doris and Paul moved to San Diego, CA spending the winters there and the summers back in Missoula until Paul passed away in February of 2011. Doris moved back to Missoula in 2011 where she lived until her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband Paul and her parents Clarence and Ella. She is survived by her sister, Leona Nelson (Bernold), sons Reginald, John and Michael and daughters Paula Eisele (Doug), Lisa Wills (Randy), and Heidi Lyons (Paul), nine grandchildren and one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on December 7, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, 2808 South Avenue West with funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Missoula City Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at First Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Montana District LCMS Indian Ministry or Montana District LCMS Boulder Ministry at 30 Broadwater Avenue in Billings, MT 59101, or First Lutheran Church 2808 South Avenue West, Missoula, MT, 59804. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
