MISSOULA - Longtime Missoula resident Doris Andrus, 82, died on January. 29, 2009. She was born Doris Elinor Henderson on Feb. 6, 1926, the seventh of eight children to Mark Leo and Geneva Green Henderson.
She was raised in Coggon, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa before moving to Browning to work as a registered nurse. There she met Earl Edward Andrus and they were married on August. 8, 1951, and moved to Missoula shortly thereafter.
She is survived by her three sisters, Edna Gelski, Helen Dunek and Geraldine Wiant, all residing in Iowa; her sons, Earl Jr. (Jae) of Missoula, Jon and his wife Helen Andrus of Spokane, and Mark Jeffrey; three grandchildren, Susan Andrus of Bozeman and Sean and Jillian Andrus of Spokane; and great-grandson, Nathan Andecker of Bozeman.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 1971, and grandson Justin Earl Andrus.
Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by both friends and family.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends later this year.
