Many extraordinary people journey through this life not recognizing their giftedness. Such was our dear mother, grandma, sister, nurse and friend, Donna. For those of us that were blessed by her smile, her humor, her healing hands or her homemade bread, we know of the spark of goodness and light that warmed our hearts, and made our journey – and us – better for it.

As with life, our journey with her was often challenging; but through it, we became more understanding, less judgmental and more compassionate. Even in her final hours, she recognized, reached out and nurtured those beaten down by emotional pain.

Although she may never have seen herself as God's masterpiece, she could transform those who were touched by her and uplift their spirits by simply being who she was.

It is with great sadness that we close this short chapter of our lives that journeyed with Donna; but we rejoice in knowing that she has found the peace that surpasses all understanding; that she is cradled in warmth and a deep abiding love; and that her beautiful smile is indeed our star overhead forever and always.

Donna is survived by her sons, Michael (Jovita) and Jared (Rachael); her grandchildren, Bridger, Kendal, Hannah and Bryan; sisters, Joyce McKean, Roxie Hausauer and Lila Repp; and brother, Randy Rockwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roger, Larry and Donald; and her beloved uncle, Mickey.

There will be a celebration honoring Donna's life at 2056 Sundance Lane, Missoula, on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
