Obituary for Donna J. Jones

On Thursday, December 10, 2015, we lost an amazing lady – mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Donna Pearson Jones was born August 20, 1928 in Missoula to Eric and Amelia Pearson. She grew up and attended school in Arlee and moved to Missoula to start her junior year. She graduated from Missoula County High School in 1946 and from St. Patrick's School of Nursing in 1950.

Donna married Gene Jones on August 2, 1952 and they lived in Thompson Falls most of their married life and raised three children. Donna and Gene were happily married for 33 years until Gene's passing in 1986.

Donna worked as a Registered Nurse in Utah, Shelby, Havre, Missoula and Plains. After retiring from Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Donna worked several years as a phlebotomist for the Missoula American Red Cross.

Donna stayed active and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sewed many quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was a very loving and caring person and volunteered to help others in many ways. She also enjoyed playing pinochle, bridge, bingo and Scrabble. She recently received her 25 year membership pin as a Vasa Lodge member. Because of her strong interest in her family's history, she researched and created detailed genealogy records. Donna was very proud of her Swedish heritage.

In addition to her husband, Gene Jones, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Virginia Morse, June Pearson and Mary Mager; and brothers, William, Robert and Victor (Daniel).

She is survived by her children, Kent and Kelly Jones of Missoula (Katelyn and Kelsey), Dean and Julie Jones of Frenchtown (Andrea, Derek and Dawson) and Diana Engel of Whitewater (Layne).

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 16 at 10 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be held in Thompson Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gene B. Jones memorial scholarship fund at Thompson Falls High School or to the organization of donor's choice.

Sunset Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
