Donald N. Tripp Jr. (JR), 60, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Sun City, Arizona of a heart attack. He had his first heart attack ten years ago and lived out his "second chance" with success and gratitude
JR was born on June 13, 1955 in Missoula Montana to Don and Vienna Tripp. JR loved life and his family and friends. He owned and operated a dump truck business in his winter home in Congress, Arizona. His "Girlfriend" (his red healer dog) rode as copilot in his truck and on his many trips back to Montana.
JR graduated from Sentinel High School in 1973 where he was a state champion wrestler. He went on to graduate from North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, majoring in mechanics and went to the National Wrestling Championships where he earned the fastest pin in the Northwest. He also received the most outstanding wrestler award by his mentor Dan Gable.
For the past few years he worked in fire camps in Montana, Idaho, and Washington. He looked forward to his many fishing trip adventures with his dad and siblings. He loved to fish and took his last trip to Alaska five years ago with his brothers and dad (prior to his dad's passing) and wanted to go back ever since.
He always loved to talk to everyone he met and nobody was a stranger. He was also a great mechanic and his expertise will be missed as he could work on anything from a motorcycle to a big rig diesel truck. We won't know who to call now. He loved being a grandpa to his 3 grandchildren. They were a highlight to his life.
After college JR married Cherie Cheff. From that marriage he had a son Ben and daughter Kahma.
Survivors include his "Girlfriend", his mother Vienna Tripp, his daughter Kahma (Nathan), son Ben Tripp(Kristy), grandchildren, Layne, Brooklyn, and Braedyn, brothers Gary and Dave (Patty) Tripp, sister Jan (Ron) Henderson, and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be at Lolo Community Church on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00 am with open viewing at 10 am and lunch provided. Burial will follow lunch at Florence Carlton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Teen Challenge, PO Box 573, Lolo, Montana or Lolo Community Church at 11897 Lewis and Clark Dr., Lolo Montana 59847.
