Donald "Duck" Trenary, 87, passed away on November 1, 2022, at home.
He was born May 19th, 1935, in the Thornton Hospital in Missoula to Guy Trenary and Rosalie Currie. He was raised in Bonner. As a young man he played baseball with the Bonner Lumberjacks and the American Legion. He graduated from Missoula County High School, and later served in Korea as a medic in the Korean War. When he returned home, he worked for the ACM Lumber Company.
Don married Germaine Roberts and they returned to his beloved Bonner neighborhood. Previously they lived in Missoula and Helena among other places. He started his career at Aetna Finance and sold insurance for Blue Shield and then entered the banking business, retiring from First Security Bank as a vice president in the installment loan department.
Following in his father's footsteps, he served on the Bonner School board for many years. Don also liked being with other veterans and was proud of his contributions on the Korean War Memorial in Missoula.
True to his Irish heritage, he also enjoyed lifting a pint and singing songs with his friends.
After retirement Don and his wife took several trips to Europe, including Ireland and Germany where they made lifelong friends. They wintered at their home in Green Valley, Arizona.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Gene and Gordon. Survivors include his wife, Germaine, sons Greg (Lynn) and Guy (Teresa) and grandchildren Aaron (Keasha Pray) Trenary, Andrea (Rich) Proff, Crystal (Jeff) Sykes, and Lindsey (Andrew Pitch) Trenary. Great grandchildren include Riley and Jacob Proff, Landon Trenary, and Emmy and Sophie Sykes.
