Obituary for Donald E. Mittlestadt

Donald Edwin Mittlestadt passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born on the family farm in Fairview, MT on March 12, 1935 to Edward and Elizabeth (Diefel) Mittlestadt. His family later moved to a farm near Glendive, MT.
He was schooled in Dawson County where he met his wife, Leona Baisch. They were married on August 28, 1955 and made their home in Glendive, where their son, Duane, and daughter Tamara were born.
Don went to work for the MT Highway Dept. in 1954 and in 1964 was transferred to Missoula, MT where their daughter Kathy was born. He retired from the highway department in 1984. He later worked for two engineering firms; DJ & A and WGM Group with his last job being on Malfunction Junction.
Don was a farmer at heart and loved taking care of his yard and gardens. He could fix anything and often helped his children with remodeling projects.
Don also enjoyed spending summers at his Flathead Lake home with his children and grandchildren boating and water skiing.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Walter, Richard and Alvin; sisters, Olga, Freida, Irene, and niece Debbie. He is survived by his wife Leona; son Duane (Steffani) Mittlestadt; daughters, Tamara (Chuck) Williams, Kathy (Dwayne) Anderson; grandchildren, Kyle (Kim) Mittlestadt, Ali, Ellen and Marissa Mittlestadt, Samantha (Austin) McClure, Brittney, Alexandra (fiancé Kevin Berland) and Jocelyn Anderson; great grandchildren, Taylor and Hunter Mittlestadt, Noah and Kian Gallagher and Parker DiSalvatore.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church 2808 South Ave. West, Missoula, MT, a luncheon will follow.
