Donald Glenn Millhouse Sr.

Donald Glenn Millhouse Sr., 88, of Missoula, passed away on March 21st, 2022 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Don was born on Oct. 10, 1933 in Kalispell MT to Glenn and Gladys Millhouse.

In 1951 he graduated from Flathead County High School. After graduating he attended the School of Mines in Butte MT majoring in drafting.

Don enlisted in the Army on JUNE 10, 1953. During his service in Germany he met and married Sgt. Katherine J. Hayes on Nov. 5th and 6th of 1954. In 1955 they moved to Bozeman and added Donald Glenn Jr. (1955) and Stephen Thomas (1958) to the family. The family moved to Missoula in 1960 and added Kevin John (1964) and Kimberly Marie (1965) to the now large family.

He started his career as a Missoula City Police Officer in January of 1969, and retired as Chief of Police in Sept of 1990. In 1992 he met his sweetie Jaime Spaulding. They enjoyed discovering new Montana locations with friends each summer, collecting rocks from Montana passes which can be viewed by driving by the front of their home, playing cards and completing word puzzles, golfing, dancing, dressing up for Halloween and throwing memorable parties for friends and family.

Like his father before him, Don shared a deep love for fishing, hunting and all things outdoors.

Don enjoyed whiskey, golf and football. He loved singing most of all. He sang for the Mendelssohn Club, Missoula Community Choirs, his church choir, family and other local events. Rather than say “Goodbye” he preferred “Keep a song in your heart.”

Mentoring youth, including time spent working at Youth Academy, public service, gardening, birdwatching, shooting the breeze with door to door salesmen, putting dishes away before you’re done with them, eating apple turnovers and muting the commercials are just a few of Don’s favorite ways to spend his time.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Kathy, Jaime’s son Bailey Spaulding, granddaughter Rachel Millhouse and most recently, his sister Elizabeth Stinchfield.

Donald is survived by newly wed Jaime Spaulding Millhouse, sons Glenn, Stephen, Kevin(Karmen) and daughter Kimberly(Jeff), grandchildren Sean, Kyle, K.C., Brandylee, Autumn, Daniel, Sabrina, Mariah, and Ryan; great grandchildren Jayden and William and his very best friend Kit Kat
