Donald Lee Hovland, 60, of Missoula, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Community Medical Center in Missoula.
Donald was born on Nov. 24, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Cecil and Ardythe (Juhl) Hovland. He graduated from Oak Park Academy (Nevada, Iowa) in 1971. Donald lived in Maxwell and Ames, Iowa, previous to moving to Montana. Donald was active in the Shriners. His greatest loves were his family, friends, his dogs (Rober and Tiki), the Shriners, camping, guns and hunting.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Shahryar) Rehman of New York, Amber Crane of Missoula and Cindy Hovland of Missoula; his sisters, Jean (Doug) Stivers of Ohio and Sherrie (Jeff) Artis of Michigan, and brother, Jim Hovland of Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Piper Crane, Rylee Crane, Isabella Rehman, Aiden Rehman and Layton Hovland; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cecil and Ardythe Hovland; brother Gary Hovland; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Charlotte Juhl; paternal grandparents, Halvor and Carrie Hovland; wife Dorothy Hovland; along with several aunts and uncles.
His celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Broadway Inn and Conference Center located at 1609 W. Broadway St., Missoula. Donald will be laid to rest in Fort Custer Cemetery in Battle Creek, Mich., with his parents.
