Donald "Don" Delzer, age 91, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Village Health Care. He was born Aug. 1, 1923, in rural Dodge County, Minnesota, the eldest of three sons of Ezra and Rosa Rohwer Delzer. He attended rural Pleasant Corners School for grades one through eight and Kasson, Minnesota, high school for grades nine through 12, graduating in 1942.
On July 17, 1943, he married Marcella Miller of Hayfield, Minnesota. He and Marcella (Marcie) lived in the Kasson and Dodge Center area of Minnesota for the next 57 years. They moved to Missoula in August 2000. To this union five children were born, three sons, Larry (Jane) of Missoula, Keith (Rose) of Renton, Washington, and Michael (Lori) of Dodge Center; two daughters, Paula (Thomas Stoltz) of Minneapolis and Janet Delzer of Missoula. Also surviving him is his brother David (Marlys) of Mantorville, Minnesota; sister-in-law Carol of Kasson; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marcie; son Michael and brother George.
Don was active in the community having served on the boards of Dodge County School District 23 (The Little Brick School), the Dodge Center Co-op Creamery and the Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church. He always said he did not have to be paid for everything he did so he volunteered at several food banks, the Salvation Army, several cancer strolls and was a life-long blood donor.
Cremation is under the care and direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
